History

The Financial Literacy Campaign is starting because of the massive poverty levels witnessed across the country whilst conducting a baseline survey of Inner-City and Zongo communities. It came to light that the issue really is not about income generation or laziness on the parts of the people living in deprived communities. The resources were in abundance and income was earned as and when work is done. The challenge is the effective management of the income to cater for lean seasons and times.

According to our survey, even though millions of people work daily and receive good income, such funds are poorly managed due to the lack of financial literacy. Financial illiteracy cut across a large spectrum for people, regardless of whether they are educated or not. This is the basis for launching the National Financial Literacy Campaign, seeking to create a financially aware and empowered people who would build and protect wealth for families and to help people move from financial insecurity to financial independence. By just engaging people one on one with how to manage finances, many have come back with very possible result hence the need to put this across on a larger scale. Financial literacy is everybody’s business. Let’s all get involved.
